Anti-Ragging

Ragging of students in any form is strictly prohibited within and outside the campus. An anti-ragging squad is in operation under the overall charge of the Director ,Administration, Mr.Saroj Ku. Panda .Students are advised to bring cases of ragging (either on the college campus or hostel) to the notice of the Director,

Roles and responsibilities

Prevention and awareness

  1. Awareness campaigns: The committee organizes events like workshops, seminars, and orientation sessions to educate students on the ill effects of ragging, the institution’s zero-tolerance policy, and the severe punishments for offenders.
  2. Publicity: It ensures that anti-ragging posters and notices are displayed prominently across the campus, including hostels, canteens, libraries, and departments, detailing the rules and consequences.
  3. Affidavits: It collects anti-ragging undertakings from students and their parents at the time of admission, electronically storing them in a central database. 

Surveillance and monitoring

  1. Anti-ragging squad: The committee oversees a dedicated anti-ragging squad, consisting of faculty and students, that conducts surprise inspections and patrols vulnerable areas like hostels, bus stands, and canteens.
  2. Guidance for freshers: It facilitates interaction between senior students and first-year students to foster a healthy academic culture. It also assigns faculty members to small groups of new students for guidance and to address any difficulties.

Investigation and action

  • Complaint handling: 

It receives and investigates complaints of ragging from students, parents, or observers, ensuring confidentiality. Complaints can also be reported to a national anti-ragging helpline.

  1. Enquiry: It conducts on-the-spot enquiries when an incident is reported and submits a detailed report with recommendations for action to the head of the institution.
  2. Disciplinary measures: Based on the nature and gravity of the offense, the committee can recommend severe punishments, which may include:
    1. Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
    2. Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits.
    3. Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process.
    4. Withholding results.
    5. Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
    6. Suspension/expulsion from the hostel.
    7. Cancellation of admission.
    8. Rustication from the institution for period ranging from one to four semesters.
    9. Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specified period.
    10. Filing a police report (First Information Report) in serious cases.
  3. Counselling and support: It provides counselling and support to victims of ragging to help them recover from trauma and ensures their safety

As per the guidelines of AICTE, Anti-Ragging Committee has been reconstituted at KMBB College of Engineering & Technology, Daleiput, Khordha, Odisha with the following representatives for monitoring the measures taken by the institute for prevention of ragging.
